Russian casters in Brazil

On September 16-20, 2019, the 9th foundry forum of the BRICS countries was held in Brazil, Sao Paulo. Foundry members of the countries included in this informal association – Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa – created the founding association of the BRICS countries in 2011.

The forum brought together numerous participants, not counting the visitors to the exhibition of foundry equipment, materials and technologies that took place on the sidelines of the event.

Despite the modest representation of the Russian delegation, the reports of Russian foundry workers aroused genuine interest of the participants in the meeting and were widely discussed after official speeches. The Tula Metallurgists and the Committee on Innovations in the Foundry and Metallurgical Industries (Tula CCI) were represented by the enterprise NPP Vulkan-TM. The company’s report was devoted to the topic of production of high-quality charge stock for foundry production using renewable natural resources, which is relevant for modern metallurgy. The technology with the commercial name BRIQCMELT involves not only a reduction in CO 2 emissions into the atmosphere, but can also provide a tremendous synergistic effect when implemented. Given the importance of the problem, the foundries of the BRICS countries are preparing a joint solution with recommendations for the implementation of this technology.

The next anniversary X foundry forum will be held in Moscow. The organizer of this event is the Russian Foundry Association (RAL), headed by the president of the association, I.A. Dibrov. Tula casters will take an active part in this forum, with active support from the Tula Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the BRICS Business Council, headed by S.N. Katyrin, in the implementation of the BRIQCMELT project, the development of which is carried out by NPP “Vulkan-TM”.
